Assistant Director of Facilities Job Summary:
  • Assists with planning, directing and managing facilities including maintenance, renovation and repair activities.
  • Be aware of safety procedure, union contracts, or employee personnel manuals and meet all established agency requirements.
  • Review status of all work orders and adjusts priority if needed. Keep originators appraised to status of requests.
  • Thoroughly understand facility requirements and objectives relative to managing facility, campus, renovation, equipment, and other salient responsibilities.
  • Update and maintain a list of dependable contractors and supplies to assure timely emergency response turn-around and cost effective renovation, repair and maintenance performance.
  • Originate and maintain a log of local contractor/supplier labor rates and charges for use as benchmarks for bids and negotiated prices (per square foot, yard, lineal foot, hour etc.).
  • Provide renovation, construction and contractor oversight with firm check-in requirements and on-site worker rules before work commences on the premises, as well as advance communications with involved departments. Disruption and dust control minimization is crucial.
  • Develop plans and systems to understand and met Joint Commission, IOSHA, regulatory agency, fire, safety and environmental code requirements.
  • Act as liaison with licensing authorities, health department and Fire Marshall, etc. as necessary to prepare for and successfully pass inspections and meet codes.
  • Establish and maintain data and files that are helpful relative to:  Construction and renovation history and costs, Expenditure and usage history for budgeting, Equipment operating and repair manuals, Equipment warranty records, Equipment age and useful life data for the 5 year replacement plan.
  • Update and make up a master set of architectural drawings to identify key turn-on and shut-off valves, panels, etc. applicable to electrical, gas, plumbing, etc., lines.
  • Prepare and make presentations relative to the annual capital, staffing and operating budget.
  • Responsible for environmental services.
Assistant Director of Facilities Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or closely related field or certification as a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM)
  • At least 5+ more years in supervision/management in acute care facilities engineering department
  • Working knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance for Building Systems, Refrigeration, HVAC Systems, and Pneumatic Control Systems, Boiler Operations, and General Building Maintenance (Grounds, Carpentry, Painting)
  • Current and valid State of Arizona Boiler Operator and Universal Refrigerant licensure
