Personal Care Attendant Job Summary:
  • Personal Care Attendant (PCA) provides personal care services to PACE participants in the day health center, as well as other activities and tasks as assigned to assist the primary care, therapy, and adult day health staff.
  • Provide personal care and escort assistance in accordance with individual treatment plans – including peri-care, grooming, dressing, showering, bathing, toileting, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Report visible changes in participants’ conditions to Day Center Supervisor and/or other center-based clinical staff.
  • Proactively communicate participant health and safety concerns to Day Center Supervisor and/or other program staff.
  • Demonstrate safe practices utilizing proper body mechanics and complying with universal precautions.
  • Interact in friendly, courteous, and professional manner with participants and their families/caregivers.
  • Participate in social and recreation activities with participants as appropriate.
  • Implement interventions, as appropriate to training, as directed by rehabilitation staff, including use of mechanical assistance for participant transfers and mobility.
  • Occasionally accompanies participants to outside clinical appointments, when necessary.
  • Assist with food service delivery and monitoring during meal times. 
Personal Care Attendant Background:  
  • Requires an education level of at least a high school diploma or GED; and completion of Medical Assistant training program.
  • Requires current and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) or Home Health Aide (H.H.A.) certification.
  • Minimum 6 months of clinical experience as a Home Health Aide, Personal Care Aide, Certified Nursing Assistant, or EMT required.
  • 1 year of experience with the frail or elderly population required.
  • Knowledge of health care delivery systems, Managed Care as well as Medicaid/Medicare and related state programs is highly desirable.
  • Requires Candidates Bilingual in English and one more: Spanish, Vietnamese, or Korean.
